The Different Types Of Tarps

Tarps used to just be made of canvas. Today, the majority are made from plastic because it is waterproof and lightweight. The most basic kinds of tarps are made of clear plastic polyethylene, which the consumer can buy from a large roll by the linear foot. Particularly popular among campers, a consumer can specify its exact size to lie as the ground cloth under his tent. The clear plastic is also predominantly found as a highly functional, yet inexpensive drop cloth for interior painters. On the opposite end of the spectrum, large lumber trucks use tarps with D-rings to keep their loads dry. Known for being durable and quite hefty, these are generally made on a custom-fit basis for a specific vehicle. Unique to this type are the D-rings, a set of small metal hoops used to help the truck driver tie everything down.
